Who are we?

  • The Team

The core musical team is Neil MacKenzie and Deborah Miles-Johnson, talented workshop leaders and coaches, who deliver nothing but excellent work. They are both former members of the prestigious BBC Singers and now pursue careers as soloists and choral leaders: Neil conducts the St Albans based chamber choir Voix de Vivre and Deborah the prizewinning Imperial Male Voice Choir and Gloriana, a spirited new women's voice ensemble. Celia Kent and Tim Sawers - both experienced arts administrators - manage the company.
  • Neil MacKenzie

Neil MacKenzie's musical career has embraced tenor membership of the BBC Singers with whom he has broadcast world-wide, as well as being an accomplished pianist, workshop leader and singing teacher. Neil also directs the St Albans chamber choir Voix de Vivre. In a leading role in the BBC's education programme he has also conducted the BBC Singers in concert, together with choral societies and adult and youth choirs nationwide.
  • Deborah Miles-Johnson

Deborah Miles-Johnson is a singer, teacher and experienced vocal coach, having worked with the BBC Symphony Chorus for 20 years and many other choirs. An experienced soloist and a former member of both The Sixteen and the BBC Singers, she continues to perform, regularly singing in the chorus at the Royal Opera House. Her work also includes the backing music for some of the biggest films of recent years including Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. Deborah conducts the prizewinning Imperial Male Voice Choir and Gloriana, a spirited new women's voice ensemble.
  • Celia Kent

Celia Kent was the Managing Editor of Headline Publishing. She is a choral singer with many years’ experience in chamber choirs in London and with the Philharmonia Chorus with whom she has sung all over the world; she was also their administrator for six years. She was formerly part of the Brandenburg Choral Festival of London management team and now helps to run Gloriana: Women in Harmony; she is concert manager for Tredici chamber choir.
  • Tim Sawers

Tim Sawers has been in the arts management business for nearly 25 years and that followed a sojourn in the gas business! Running theatres, West End shows, arts charities and more, Tim has a wealth of experience in management and directing artistic endeavours. But throughout all that time, in fact since the age of 11 when arriving at the Gloucester Cathedral school, Tim has been a choral and ensemble singer and it's his love and passion for this that has helped spark this project.
